Ascot Racecourse partners with Police Community Clubs to sponsor schools Mindfulness Project

In collaboration with the Police Community Clubs of Great Britain, Ascot Racecourse, through the Ascot Racecourse Supports programme, is delighted to announce the sponsorship of the “Barney & Echo” Mindfulness Project which will benefit 10 local primary schools. The project will encourage Year Six students to discuss openness, confidence and how they feel in stressful situations, providing them with strategies and ideas to help them cope in a fun and informative setting. The project will culminate with an interactive seminar to be held at the Racecourse in December with 600+ students in attendance.

Jacqui Greet, CSR Manager at Ascot Racecourse, said: “We were thrilled to be asked to support this project which we feel all children in the present climate will benefit from. The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain are passionate about promoting emotional health in children and are the ideal partners to deliver the programme.”

The Police Community Clubs of Great Britain Barney & Echo series has been developed to support parents and teachers in addressing Personal, Social and Health Education (PSHE) at Key Stage 2, especially in Years Five & Six to benefit pupils that are 9-11-years-old. The Barney & Echo Mindfulness project promotes the idea that mental health is just as important as physical health, promoting a life-long respect of one’s own mental health.

The project includes workbooks for each child and a play script for drama production, as well as a full day of activities at the Mindfulness seminar for all participating schools to be held at Ascot Racecourse.

Carrie Boulton, Seminar Project organiser, said: “We are proud that the Ascot Racecourse Supports programme are involved to support this project for the benefit of the community. Encouraging children to be aware of and learn strategies to protect their own mental health in a fun and informative way, is a key element of this project.”
